Bus Monitor

 

  • Classification:  Non Exempt
  • Reports To: Transportation Coordinator
  • Summary/Objective
  • To provide safe, orderly and efficient transportation services.

 

  • Essential Functions
  • Follow all established policies, procedures and practices in terms of duties and responsibilities of the position as delegated by the supervisor.
  • Responsible to ride on the bus and monitor student behavior, issuing citations when necessary.
  • Monitor students and their behavior on the bus at all times.
  • Enjoy working with children of all ages and be sensitive to their needs.
  • Able to understand and have empathy for persons with disabilities.
  • Must establish and maintain effective communication with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Perform such tasks at the supervisor may request in order to promote cooperative team work.
  • Employee will follow all health and safety rules, policies and procedures.
  • Use respectable language at all times.
  • Must be neat, clean and dress appropriately.
  • Display professional behavior when working with students, parents and co-workers.
  • Assure that students get on and off the bus in a safe and orderly fashion and maintain good student conduct on the bus.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • The work environment is on a bus, assisting kids to and from school and requires standing, kneeling, bending and stooping.

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
